Baby, baby, baby oooohhh

I of course have fleeting thoughts all the time, so let me share with you where else my mind wandered to when thinking about this shower. Instead of throwing a traditional shower, I thought about setting up a nice PINK picnic. I of course love baking (or making any food for that manner) and I am pretty fond of being outdoors in a cozy/intimate setting. Nothing like sitting on blankets in nature to bond. It just seems so personal to me. Pink drinks, finger sandwiches, flowering teas, petit fours, pink macaroons, and pink peonies would round up my ideal pink baby girl shower. Here's some cute ideas...

Images and recipes from top to bottom, left to right...Sugar Crafter mowieliciousSuch Pretty Things, and Hostess with the mostess, Numi Organic Tea.  I have the recipes for the last pink drink (and I actually plan to make pink non-alcoholic drinks YAY!) but I found it on pinterest and the link goes no where, so you'll just have to bear with me.

Some other ideas thought up included: going out for brunch followed by pedicures and/or going to a painting class like Paint a Long, Sips and Strokes, or Paint Plus Canvas. All good ideas if I say so myself, but I'm still so excited for the "Rainbow Owl" shower. The invitations came in already and I have to say I'm pleased. Will share soon!

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

My Funny Valentine

I'm THREE weeks behind, so I won't bore you with my life. Onto the good stuff. Anias: Week 21 I weighed 15 lbs 12 oz at my 4 month doctor's appointment. I now am off of Zantac, and even though I still spit up I'm a happy baby boy. I started eating solids, well mush really, but my first real food was carrots. My second tooth came in! I look so adorable. Anias: Week 22 I love riding on dad's shoulders and laughing as Eli hugs me or bounces me in the exasaucer. I am sitting like a big boy in my high chair during meals now. I love being part of all the action. I finally am used to sleeping with my arms (semi) out thanks to my zippadee zip. I turned 5 months old! Anias: Week 23 I had my first Valentine's day and I got a cute Mickey balloon from mom and dad and a sweet bear from Mimi that Eli tried to steal. I have become a big fan of peas and avocados. I love to sit and stand and I'm having fewer and fewer spills. When I do fall over, tho...
