It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Well, it’s official. I got a letter in the mail saying that I am no longer employed. It’s very bittersweet and kind of odd having no safety net, but I’ve been so busy I’m glad to have those 10 hours a week back to myself. I have been on the go for weeks now. Last week was dominated by illness and this week has been total catch-up. I have a feeling it will be like this until the new year, but at least I’m busy doing fun things. Josh and I are doing our Tennessee Christmas on the 19th then I’ve got my next gig on the 20th and extended family Tennessee Christmas on the 21st. I’ve also got a photo shoot plus our party give away which will take place while I’m on vacation, so I’m prepping for all that. For the give away we’re doing a Pearls and Poinsettia’s Ladies Luncheon with 5 courses. I’m hoping it will be very classy (and delicious). Of course I’m most excited for the dessert course, but that’s neither here nor there. I’ve also begun preparing for Eli’s CAT Construction party. I’ve...

Gobble Gobble

It’s Thanksgiving week!! Josh is home all week and my brother and his family are days away. It’s like a vacation over here. Well, I guess it technically is a vacation. Did you have a good week? Eli and I had an extra day together this week. We did our usual errands etc. but we also had a Starbucks, watched I Am and GMO OMG , made cinnamon rolls and did a bit of shopping. Those two documentaries are amazing. You should most definitely watch them. Of course those cinnamon rolls were supposed to be for mom’s group and I didn’t finish them until 2 hours after the event, but hey. It is what it is! Ohhh on top of that I had the best girl’s day painting ceramics with my friend Aimee. I made a mug that will of course be featured on one of our Make it Monday’s at Polished Homemade . Speaking of P/H, I got to take a few photos of some of the most adorable babes out there. Meet Emma and Tucker. Try not to pinch their cheeks over the web.          ...

The Labor-Free Weekend

Hooray for 4 day weekends! I feel so refreshed! Our little family had quite the time. Josh and I headed to Evin’s Mill Friday night after shopping and dropping Eli off at his grandparents. It was amazing. Seriously, it was super cute, the food was de-licious, the hike was gorgeous, and Josh and I had tons of quality time together. I almost forgot how funny he is. For the record I did not believe a racecar driver was, at one point, president (a-hem).              Saturday was filled with more shopping, our first movie in an actual theater since December last year, and the first PSL of the season. We saw If I Stay , and although there was lots of sniffling going on, it was good. Josh even begrudgingly admitted that he liked it. Today I started working on expanding my portfolio so the people at the silent auction know what they’re getting with their bid. My friend volunteered her sister and her family, which was perfect on so...

Counting Sheep

Little man does not want to nap today. Lately he’s been doing about 2 hours of naps per day (2 half hour naps, 1 hour nap), which is really not ideal considering he used to nap for 4 hours. I was hopeful it was a sign he was getting ready to sleep through the night! He wasn’t. He’s just too busy for naps. He’s got things to do people. That being said, they may add Josh and I to this list. My goal was to spend one full day in pajamas not doing even one ‘chore-like’ activity. I wasn’t able to accomplish that- but I’ve got something to strive for. Maybe next week! Ah- I’ve got a 4 day weekend coming on and a getaway with Josh. I’m so excited! I’m also apprehensive about leaving Eli for the first time. I know I’ll push through considering the place we booked at does not allow children, but I doubt I’ll sleep very much. Time will tell. Our weekend has been full of brunch, naps, church, shopping (loved Bellevue’s Farmer’s Market), pizza, and marathon tv watching. Sure chores were thrown...

The Juggling Act

Do you ever feel like Freddy Prince Jr. in She’s All That? Not sure what I’m talking about? The cheesy reference is below But in all seriousness I really am exhausted. You have so many balls to juggle- work, sleep, exercise, infant nutrition to put it politely, taking care of your baby, hygiene, feeding your family, running errands, keeping the house clean & clothes washed, keeping up friendships, fostering spirituality, taking care of your dogs, nurturing your marriage, etc. From my calculations I have about 1 hour a day to take care of non-pressing matters. So of course things fall behind. The house gets a little extra messy, we eat out more than I’m comfortable, it happens, but it really really bothers me. I need to let go of my idea of what’s good enough and frankly I need to take better care of myself (hi, I’m 27 years old and I threw my back out), but where do you find the time? Needless to say I am so happy to be going part-time next week. I only get 10 weeks of par...

You Wanna Maserati? You better work

I just returned home from doing a ‘dry run’ for my return to work routine. I woke up at 5:45, made it out the door by 7, and made it to work by 8! Aside from Eli having a very rough night and early morning, it went really well! I did forget a few things- like setting the coffee to auto brew at 6:30, or pre-packing my lunch and Eli’s meals, or packing up his gas medicine- but it was a pretty good go. I feel a lot more prepared and pretty happy that I’m only getting up 15 minutes earlier than I used to. Granted I only got 5 hours of sleep instead of 9 but still. Well, Eli made it for a half hour nap in his crib! That’s definitely better than nothing, but I’ll be honest, I’m the one that’s probably holding him back this week. I’ve been letting him play in his crib while I do laundry or wash dishes, which is going pretty well actually, but my return to work date has been on the forefront of my mind all week and I don’t want him in his crib! I want to hold him and snuggle him as much as p...
