Seasons in the sun

We said goodbye to our poor dog today. I thought I would be completely fine, I mean there's only so much eh hem, crap, one pregnant woman can clean up. Regardless, I still cried when his nice new owner offered to let us come by anytime. I'm so scared Eli is going to be devastated. That dog was his best friend, but as my friend pointed out, he'll have a new best friend, a little brother, in a few short months. Optimus didn't seem to be bothered at all. He hopped in the car without any prodding and was like "bye suckers!"  We're moving out of our house on Monday and Eli and I are off to Denver until the 16th when we will close on our townhouse. He's super excited to see his cousins, Tenley in particular. I told him we were going to say goodbye to Optimus, get on a plane to Denver to see his cousins, then maybe go swimming to which he replied "that sounds fun." Wish us luck! Once we get settled I will feel relieved. Week 22 Baby'...

Futurama

Y’all, I think Kito is dying. He’s been coughing up a storm and wheezing! I mean, we all know he’s an obese little dog so he’s been wheezing for a long time but lately it’s not just after running or getting excited. Being alive seems to tax him, but I can’t do it! I don’t want to put him down. Pray that he’s just got seasonal allergies. But seriously- pray that he gets better. I don’t want my pup to go.   On an unrelated note- I’m trying to assess my strengths. You may have noticed an obnoxious yellow poll at the top of the page. Well, the good news is the last time I was thinking about leaving my job the only thing on my list of things I like to do was “empty the dryer lint”. The not so good news is I’m not sure exactly what to pursue or strengthen. In a perfect world I would like to work for myself and make at least 6k per year after taxes. Is that too much to ask? I like all of the options, but there are pros and cons too. A ‘pro’ for all is I really enjoy the field. Act...

It’s a Mad World

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a great day so far. We had a wonderful Saturday morning brunching with friends and having Eli’s first baby shower!! Oh my goodness I had so much fun. We brunched at Mad Donna’s (I had biscuits & gravy and French onion soup) with my lovely co-workers, who spoiled Eli, and subsequently us, to the max. I can not believe how generous people are!  Here’s a few pics… Seriously, check out that haul! We got some hilarious books including I Want My Hat Back and Mr. Tiger Goes Wild . They are so good I would read them just to lol And that pacifier? It’s Bass Pro Shop. Yea, my male co-worked is looking out for Eli. I seriously loved everything we got, but this shark set has a special place in my heart. How cute is that??  My coworkers suggest having him wear it during his first viewing of Sharknado . Hilarious. Oh! We also had some amazzzzing cupcakes from Ivey Cake. I’ve got to admit, I’m munching on one while I type. Not pictured? We boug...

It’s a….

Boy!! We are officially 100% sure that our bundle of joy will be a little boy. I can tell you, my family had so much fun with the scratch-offs. My grandparents were the first to get theirs, so my grandmother immediately grabbed my brother’s mail (they live next door to each other essentially) and ran down so they could have theirs too. There were many excited phone calls. My sister and mother have already gone out to shop for our little one. The spoiling can now begin haha! We spent quite a bit of time this morning getting to see little Eli during our doctor appointment. It’s crazy how fast they grow! I was just telling Josh I remember when we had just found out we were pregnant and he was the size of a poppy seed. Wow! Today we saw his kidneys at work, his spine, his little feet kicking like crazy, and his adorable profile. I planned to put up ultrasound pictures, but our scanner is on the fritz. I can’t stop buying things for our little boy. I talked Josh into buying him this s...

Faith, Hope, Luck

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Last night we had our St. Patrick’s Day party which was full of four-leaf clovers and fighting. On tv that is. Anyone else watch GSP vs. Diaz? I actually am a fan of Ultimate Fighter and was rooting for GSP.  Apparently Diaz was on that show too but I can’t recall. Who wouldn’t go for GSP really? Diaz has a mouth on him. Anyways, Here’s some pictures of the set up. Of course I made pretzel rolls with dipping sauces (and little signs so you knew what you were dipping the pretzel in). The jalapeno cream cheese was actually my favorite dip! I just mixed up 4 oz of cream cheese with one chopped, poached, seeded jalapeno, a bit of paprika, and about 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese and warmed it for about 30 seconds in the microwave. Delicious! And there was the “traditional” Shepherd’s pie. It was more of a herder’s pie since it had hamburger instead of lamb, but hey, I’m not actually Irish. And lastly we had a green velvet cheesecake . I melted the frosting and...

Every Dog has his day

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend has been wonderful. It’s been snowing all weekend here, but it has actually been a nice change of scenery. I feel like Josh and I have been running around all day. Optimus has been shedding like C-R-A-Z-Y so we decided to get him groomed at Groomer Has It . The pricing was so great we got Kito groomed too and he looks hilarious! I was pondering a lion cut, but I’m glad we went with the “fox”. His head looks so tiny compared to his chubby body I keep cracking up. He seems happy to have all of that weight off of him. I feel like taking tons of pictures of him now. It makes such a difference being able to see his little face! Side note- Did anyone else see that Duck Dynasty episode where Si got a poodle for his hunting dog? Oh my goodness I laughed so hard I cried. If you haven’t seen it yet click the link and prepare to crack up! We also ran up to Franklin to get the glass paperweights we made during our class at Franklin Glassblowing Studio . Josh m...

Happy Valentine’s Day + 1

Hey everyone! Hope all is well. Did you have a good Valentine’s day? I’m soooo spoiled. I can home to a sweet husband, some orchids, an infinity ring that slightly too small (whoops), pizza (yay! no cooking), and of course a bag of Cheetos and a few Twix bars. Of course I’m going to kill the orchids since they’re planted, but they look adorable now!  I made Josh an ice cream cake using this Wilton’s cake pan . My recommendation? Go to Baskin Robins. I may have saved a few bucks but the cake was not moist and it was a PAIN. After I frosted it, the cake just looked like a big ole’ blob. So much for the pretty pan. Next time I use the pan I’m thinking I’ll do angel food cake with a glaze (aka no thick frosting). I also got him a few items for his Man-Cave and signed us up for glass-blowing classes this Sunday. I can’t wait!                         ...
