Party On

Hey everyone! Hope all is well. Did you have a good Valentine’s day? I’m soooo spoiled. I can home to a sweet husband, some orchids, an infinity ring that slightly too small (whoops), pizza (yay! no cooking), and of course a bag of Cheetos and a few Twix bars. Of course I’m going to kill the orchids since they’re planted, but they look adorable now!  I made Josh an ice cream cake using this Wilton’s cake pan . My recommendation? Go to Baskin Robins. I may have saved a few bucks but the cake was not moist and it was a PAIN. After I frosted it, the cake just looked like a big ole’ blob. So much for the pretty pan. Next time I use the pan I’m thinking I’ll do angel food cake with a glaze (aka no thick frosting). I also got him a few items for his Man-Cave and signed us up for glass-blowing classes this Sunday. Y’all- I’m about to skip over a few days in this week’s photo challenge. Yep- you heard it. I’m going to skip long exposure and “technology” for a bit and bring it back in a week or two. That’s okay though right because 1) there’s more than 28 days in a 30 day challenge so we’ll need extras for that last week and 2) I totally feel horrible. Oh my goodness today has been such a joy so far! I slept a solid 10 hours (hallelujah! I generally have crazy bouts of insomnia), went to church, and have spent the day relaxing with my husband. Yesterday was the culmination of all my planning and Natasha’s hard work. I can’t say that I’m sad it’s over. I had tons of fun but man it’s much more stressful planning another person’s wedding. I wanted her to have her dream wedding and with that desire I put a lot of pressure on myself. She decided to have the bridesmaids and I do the bouquets, and I really loved how they turned out. At the time though I was sweating it. I was kicking myself over every little thing. Josh had to reassure me when asking various questions like “Is it pink enough? Is it round and even enough? Is it full enough? Would you like it? Does it look fresh enough?” By the end of the night I didn’t take one picture and I never wanted to see a rose again, but today is a different story. I was talking to my lovely mother this morning, who told me that Kali loves Tinkerbell! I haven’t watched any of the Tinkerbell movies, but I think I have some okay ideas for a fairy princess party. We’ll see what Kali thinks. I would start by decorating the house with some giant flowers. Design Sponge made these huge super-cute flowers but these poster-board flowers look a little easier to be honest. The huge scale should help the kids feel even littler, almost *fairy-like* (I hope). These mini cupcakes would be add to the scale of the party too. I would top the cupcakes with some edible glitter and put the extra golden glitter in these fairy-dust containers. I love how Hostess with the Mostess utilized mushrooms and butterflies for this fairy party . It might be fun for Kali and her friends to paint their own little mushrooms, but I’m leaning more towards butterflies myself. I’d also add some sweet banners and a few decorative bells for the kids to ring. You know what they ...
