So this is Christmas

Well, this week has been full of both highs and lows. On the plus side, I was approved to start taking leave as of the 23rd. Woot woot! That means I only have 6 business days left. Now, on the other side, I asked to start leave on the 23rd because they make us take 40 hours of PTO before our FMLA starts…and apparently the 24th-25th are not ‘regular’ business days. So, lucky me, I get to take 58 hours of PTO…which I don’t have. Not ideal, but I guess it is what it is. Friday at work I started having some pretty painful Braxton Hicks that lasted a little under 2 hours. I was sort of scared, but also excited. It definitely made me think about how real this is becoming. Baby boy should be here in less than a month. Crazy! It also made me go into overdrive in getting the house ready. I cleaned the oven and cabinets and scrubbed the bathrooms on my hands and knees this weekend. I definitely am not as lax about leaving stuff around. In the event that Eli comes early, I don’t want to come ho...

C’mon month 7

We’re 7 months along now, and I am in full-on nesting mode. It’s taking everything in me to chill out and not buy all of the nursery stuff for Eli right now. I can’t wait to get it all set up, but I know if I wait it will be so much better. We still have 2 baby showers and my parents are coming the last week of November. Praying for patience! Here’s my belly check in this week. As for Eli? Eli’s Size: He should be about 2 and a half pounds, or about the size of an eggplant. I can't wait to see him Tuesday! Cravings: chocolate, Starbuck’s Pumpkin spice latte’s, Ramen  Side effects: heartburn, Charlie horses, hip pain, moodiness, seeing stars, forgetfulness, insomnia, nightmares Wedding rings on or off? Still off. I put them on yesterday because we had a photo shoot scheduled, and it was so hard to get them back off. Most awkward moment? Rescheduling our photo shoot (again) due to rain, and then having the rain stop shortly after. Let’s hope we get these scheduled before...

It’s a Mad World

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a great day so far. We had a wonderful Saturday morning brunching with friends and having Eli’s first baby shower!! Oh my goodness I had so much fun. We brunched at Mad Donna’s (I had biscuits & gravy and French onion soup) with my lovely co-workers, who spoiled Eli, and subsequently us, to the max. I can not believe how generous people are!  Here’s a few pics… Seriously, check out that haul! We got some hilarious books including I Want My Hat Back and Mr. Tiger Goes Wild . They are so good I would read them just to lol And that pacifier? It’s Bass Pro Shop. Yea, my male co-worked is looking out for Eli. I seriously loved everything we got, but this shark set has a special place in my heart. How cute is that??  My coworkers suggest having him wear it during his first viewing of Sharknado . Hilarious. Oh! We also had some amazzzzing cupcakes from Ivey Cake. I’ve got to admit, I’m munching on one while I type. Not pictured? We boug...

We’re halfway there!

I’m so excited that we’re halfway through this pregnancy. We’re 20 weeks and 3 days along to be exact. Time seems to by flying. We have yet to take a class, check out daycares, or take the hospital tour. It’s driving me slightly crazy not to have it on the books yet, but we’re trying to work it in within the next two weeks or so. We did, however, start the baby-proofing. Not so much because I want to be early on that. More so because all of his stuff was taking up tons of room. Oh! Annnnd we booked our maternity mini session with Rachel King Photography . I’m super excited. We try to get professional pictures done once a year and this should be our best year yet. Now for the belly check in…                Eli was 11 oz a week ago and he’s getting stronger every day. Just last night he was kicking me to the point that it hurt! What a crazy experience. I’m feeling pretty good most of the time, but I’ll be glad when...

Belly Check in

This baby is growing! I tried to do bi-weekly photos, but week 16 just flew by. Translation: I think I spent the entire weekend either running errands or wearing pajamas. I thought I was showing at week 12, but I can see now that probably was not accurate. Within the past week I’ve had strangers start to comment on the baby, touch my belly (goodness gracious I wish people would at least ask), and have officially graduated to wearing mostly maternity clothes. I still have some loose shirts I can use, and I see no reason to buy maternity cardigans as mine seem to work just fine. I got by from weeks 7-16 using the rubber band trick , BellaBands, and wearing a few items that were a size up. My bank account is hurting from the transition, but the baby is more comfortable. At least, that’s what I assume as I’ve stopped having crazy stomach pain halfway through the day. Please excuse the weird sequence here. Josh keeps getting closer and the lighting keeps getting darker as the weeks go by...
