So this is Christmas

Well, this week has been full of both highs and lows. On the plus side, I was approved to start taking leave as of the 23rd. Woot woot! That means I only have 6 business days left. Now, on the other side, I asked to start leave on the 23rd because they make us take 40 hours of PTO before our FMLA starts…and apparently the 24th-25th are not ‘regular’ business days. So, lucky me, I get to take 58 hours of PTO…which I don’t have. Not ideal, but I guess it is what it is. Friday at work I started having some pretty painful Braxton Hicks that lasted a little under 2 hours. I was sort of scared, but also excited. It definitely made me think about how real this is becoming. Baby boy should be here in less than a month. Crazy! It also made me go into overdrive in getting the house ready. I cleaned the oven and cabinets and scrubbed the bathrooms on my hands and knees this weekend. I definitely am not as lax about leaving stuff around. In the event that Eli comes early, I don’t want to come ho...

For the Princess

Okay this room is not super princess-y, but, I’m sure if we have a little girl she will rule the roost. I can’t seem to get away from sweet animals and bright colors, but I’m not sorry. If we have a girl, I do want the room to have a hint of elegance, but not so much so that you might not realize you’re in a child’s room. How genius is it to hang baskets on the wall like that? I’m 90% sure that’s happening. This board, as you may notice, has two mobiles. I’m a little obsessed with mobiles, so I’m thinking I’d make one for over the changing table, and the other over the crib. I LOVE the fairy mobile. This woman is so super talented and she makes custom orders. That is one thing I must buy if we have a girl. No exceptions, no replacements. Not for sale, but inspiration for framed letters found here , You Are So Loved Print , Inspiration for colors and storage found here , Fairy Tale Storage Bings , Pink Bear Humidifier , Fairy Mobile , Tangerine Rug , Flower Ceiling Light , I Lo...

Bambi?

Okay, so this idea board started out with the intention of being gender neutral, but I’ve got to say, it feels very boy friendly to me. Josh laughed at the Elk themed sheets, but hey, this baby’s got genetic roots in Wyoming. I’m sure he’ll feel right at home (if it’s a he). The idea is to have my dad paint an aspen tree-scape onto the wall where the crib will be, and accent the wall with artwork, etc. I may even be able to talk him into painting some customized raccoons rowing down a river on the bottom of the tree scape. He’s truly talented, but he swears he isn’t. Anyhow, I’m super excited about this room and I’m kind of in love with that mobile. Bumble Bee Print , Map of United States , Elk Sheets (too expensive, but serves as inspiration), Owl Sheets (same goes for this one), Forest Animal Mobile , Owl Humidifier , Owl Pillow , Animal Bins , Bird Curtain Rod Accessory , Bear Print , Raccoon Print , Fox Print Would this wood monogram not fit in perfectly? I think so. Could ...

Birds of a Feather

Welcome to crafting hour (as my husband so lovingly called it). I’m finally getting busy working on some decorations/crafts for the “Rainbow Owl” shower scheduled 9 days from now. Time is going so fast! We got in all the materials to decorate, but unfortunately I thought I’d be able to find little drink umbrellas in the store to make this cute “shower” wreath and they were nowhere to be found. We literally went to 4 stores. Oh well…some day you will be mine cute umbrella wreath. What we did do is make an owl and rainbow baby mobile and a cute little owl family. Take a look. I made the rainbow mobile by covering the inside of an embroidery hoop with embroidery floss in the colors of the rainbow. This was SO easy and really inexpensive. Then I colored this pattern in paint and printed out the little owls on white, thick scrapbook paper. I like that this is a decorative theme piece that can also be used later in a very functional way. I got the idea to make a little owl fa...

Precious Cargo

I'm stoked about this baby shower. My first thought was to throw an airplane themed party- as our friends plan to name their baby Amelia (get it? I'm sure you do), but Josh said that was a little morbid. Hey! I don't always think things through all the way, but that's what Josh is for-keeping me on track. However, I still think an airplane themed baby shower would be cute. Clouds of cotton candy, maybe a few handmade "rain showers", a cute little pink plane, maybe invitations shaped like boarding passes? Love it. Look at some of this inspiration.... You can get these cute little boarding pass invitations from Zazzle  Courtsey of Sambellina's Party  Found at Hostess with the Mostess Imagine these with little airplanes? LOVE Found at Le Frufru' Maybe we'll be lucky and one of our friends will name their kid Pilot Inspektor. Fingers crossed!
