It’s the final countdown

Be warned- this is very content heavy. Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great time bringing in the new year. For so many people January 1st marks a day of hope, of potential, and of change. I stopped making new year’s resolutions a few year ago I believe, not because I don’t see the benefit in that, but because I know I’m more likely to fail if I set strict ‘resolutions’. Instead I decide to focus more on my values than goals, per se. This year- I’d really like to be more present and watch what I say. Sometimes I feel like this is truly the world we are living in… I want to remember my life, my real life- not my digital life. This concept of being more present also addresses my tendency to be impatient and/or anxious. I waste so much time and energy trying to make things happen now, instead of appreciating the now. As Henry David Thoreau would say, “Why should we live with such hurry and waste life? We are determined to be starved before we are hungry” (Walden).  O...

Give Thanks

Happy Weekend! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I have SO much to be thankful for. I have the best family, who I’m closer to than most people are, even though I only get to see them a few times a year. They are so supportive and amazing. I’m thankful for my brother and sister-in-law, who let us tag along and go on their vacation with them. I had so much fun last week and got to relax and get a break from work. Here’s a few pictures from the trip. They even brought us 2 boxes of baby clothes that are so cute I can’t wait to dress Eli in something new every day (really, I think he has enough clothes). Just check out his wardrobe… I’m thankful for my sisters, who are coming to visit and help after Eli is born. I can’t wait for them to meet him. How wonderful is it that I live across the country and still have so much support? I’m thankful for Josh, who is possibly the best husband who has ever existed. He is so loving, supportive, and helpful. He rubs my back when I wake u...

The Velveteen Rabbit

We’re at week 32! Only 8 more weeks to go. Yesterday we had our final baby shower and it was just adorable. My in-laws threw us a Velveteen Rabbit themed shower. Take a look at these pictures my sister-in-law took of all the sweet decorations. Isn’t it just adorable? I was so sad to tear down the diaper cake, but that wreath is going to go on his nursery door I’m sure. Eli is so lucky to have a crafty grandmother. Not only did she decorate the shower, but she also made him a ton of personalized burp cloths, onesies, pants, blankets, and bibs. Aren’t they soooo cute? I’m thinking about changing his going home outfit to be his little lion onesie she made him with his name embroidered on it. We’ll have to see! Oh and that bear backpack! Isn’t it precious? I can’t wait to pack it up for him to go out to his Mimi’s. He’ll just love it.                     Now for ...

C’mon month 7

We’re 7 months along now, and I am in full-on nesting mode. It’s taking everything in me to chill out and not buy all of the nursery stuff for Eli right now. I can’t wait to get it all set up, but I know if I wait it will be so much better. We still have 2 baby showers and my parents are coming the last week of November. Praying for patience! Here’s my belly check in this week. As for Eli? Eli’s Size: He should be about 2 and a half pounds, or about the size of an eggplant. I can't wait to see him Tuesday! Cravings: chocolate, Starbuck’s Pumpkin spice latte’s, Ramen  Side effects: heartburn, Charlie horses, hip pain, moodiness, seeing stars, forgetfulness, insomnia, nightmares Wedding rings on or off? Still off. I put them on yesterday because we had a photo shoot scheduled, and it was so hard to get them back off. Most awkward moment? Rescheduling our photo shoot (again) due to rain, and then having the rain stop shortly after. Let’s hope we get these scheduled before...

This week in baby news…

Good morning! Well, now afternoon. This post comes to you while Optimus is lying on my lap. I think he knows his lap time is limited. Baby Belcher is now 24 weeks and 3 days along.  We had our checkup this past Tuesday and everything is still looking good! It was our first appointment where we weren’t able to see him, so that was a little sad, but next time we should get a peek. I have to do my glucose test and I am NOT excited about it. At least it will be over quickly. Here’s me representing the Broncos! I know they aren’t playing today, but I have to work tomorrow and this does not meet business casual standards. I’m trying to convince Eli in utero to be a Broncos fan. We’ll see if they win him over, as you know he’ll get plenty of push from his daddy to be a Titan’s fan.             Eli is now officially “viable” so that takes some stress off. I’ve been having some anxiety that I’ll hurt him somehow because I cannot ...
