Party On

Another week has gone by and baby boy is still very snug. Only 2 more weeks until we’re considered ‘full term’ and I can start working on convincing him it’s nice out here in the world. I feel like I’m about 2 weeks away from feeling this way full throttle… I’ve been so busy preparing for him to come that I’m running out of things to do. Our bags are packed (I’m ready to go…I couldn’t resist), our meals are frozen (we made it to 24 meals after finishing up freezing some breakfasts yesterday), I bought him the cutest scrapbook ever, the house is clean, and I’m even close to having my weird nesting stuff done. The weird stuff? I have to (for no known reason) finish putting all my recipes into OneNote. I also just had to finish our family scrapbook through November last night. Like, late night run to Michael’s stand in line for 20 minutes had to. Very weird, but I feel much better now. We still do need to move Optimus which makes me kind of sad. It’s almost October! This morning I bought some pureed pumpkin to make some fall treats and tonight we’re going to decorate the yard for Halloween. I can not wait. I just love October. We’ve been fairly busy this week. We started a new schedule at work which was…interesting. Some of the change was better (fewer clients to document on), some of it was worse (more to do, essentially). Today we headed to the TACA fair and of course only bought food. I think that’s all I ever buy there. We got some Blackberry syrup and organic popcorn butter from the Amish booth. Mmmmmm. Then we headed to pick up the mugs I decorated for my co-workers. One is supposed to be Dwight from the Office (not my best work- remind me never to try to do a person again) and the other is Grumpy Cat. I seriously find that one to be hilarious. Funny how they both resonate with grumpy characters! After that we went out to lunch at Olive Garden before heading to run errands and grab some Halloween décor for the yard. ...

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Last night we had our St. Patrick’s Day party which was full of four-leaf clovers and fighting. On tv that is. Anyone else watch GSP vs. Diaz? I actually am a fan of Ultimate Fighter and was rooting for GSP.  Apparently Diaz was on that show too but I can’t recall. Who wouldn’t go for GSP really? Diaz has a mouth on him. Anyways, Here’s some pictures of the set up. Of course I made pretzel rolls with dipping sauces (and little signs so you knew what you were dipping the pretzel in). The jalapeno cream cheese was actually my favorite dip! I just mixed up 4 oz of cream cheese with one chopped, poached, seeded jalapeno, a bit of paprika, and about 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese and warmed it for about 30 seconds in the microwave. Delicious! And there was the “traditional” Shepherd’s pie. It was more of a herder’s pie since it had hamburger instead of lamb, but hey, I’m not actually Irish. And lastly we had a green velvet cheesecake . We’ve finished the desk! I was hoping to give you a before and after this weekend. Here was the before… And here is the after… Ahhh isn’t that knob so much better?? I put up my bird picture holder just so I can have something on the desk for now. We haven’t touched the wall paint yet so our paintings and mirrors aren’t up. I needed something to look at for now y’all. I seriously can’t tell you how comfy that chair is. I’m glad we had some leftover gold paint from the bathroom remodel (saved us $5). I feel like it ties the chair in and makes the wicker baskets pop. I probably should’ve removed the existing backboard in order to get a really smooth surface, but I actually kind of like the divots. Gives it some character.  Overall the desk cost me $83 $15 for a quart of green paint at Home Depot $25 on baskets from Michael's $5 knob from Home Depot $48 for the desk from Salvation Army Hey-  not too bad. Oh my goodness today has been such a joy so far! I slept a solid 10 hours (hallelujah! I generally have crazy bouts of insomnia), went to church, and have spent the day relaxing with my husband. Yesterday was the culmination of all my planning and Natasha’s hard work. I can’t say that I’m sad it’s over. I had tons of fun but man it’s much more stressful planning another person’s wedding. I wanted her to have her dream wedding and with that desire I put a lot of pressure on myself. She decided to have the bridesmaids and I do the bouquets, and I really loved how they turned out. At the time though I was sweating it. I was kicking myself over every little thing. Josh had to reassure me when asking various questions like “Is it pink enough? Is it round and even enough? Is it full enough? Would you like it? Does it look fresh enough?” By the end of the night I didn’t take one picture and I never wanted to see a rose again, but today is a different story.
