Well, how was I to know there was a party goin' on?

Well that went by quickly. Only 14 more weeks until Eli is due, 12 weeks until my last work-day, 6 and a half more weeks until our extended family vacation, and 2 more weeks until our mini family vacation. I think we’ll need it. All of it. Here I am at 26 weeks in the only ‘normal’ shirt that made it this far. I’ve had quite a few people say I’m huge and quite a few say I’m small for size. Either way, I don’t care. I just want him to be healthy and me not to have to work too extremely hard after his birth to feel back to my normal self. So far I’m healthy and he’s healthy

Weight gain: 21lbs at 26 weeks
Eli’s Size: He should be about 2 pounds and about the size of a head of lettuce
Cravings: Hotdogs! Seriously I had hotdogs 5 times this week.
Side effects: foot cramps/Charlie horses, rib pain, seeing stars, hip pain, minor insomnia (only twice this week). I’ve been in such a bad mood for days now. I feel like everything hurts my feelings or makes me cry (even tears of joy sometimes)
Wedding rings on or off? On, most of the time, I took them off to get cleaned yesterday and it was a struggle. I may have to consider taking them off
Most awkward moment? Having my belly poke out of my maternity shirt when reaching up to fix my hair. I was mad! I bought those shirts so that I wouldn’t have to have an awkward moment like that. Hmm also a client offering to sneak me clothes for Eli- awkward- or trying to do a load of laundry and getting the door stuck on your belly- awkward. It’s like a dance to be able to open the laundry doors now. I feel ginormous.
Best moment? Not living in Wyoming hahaha. It snowed so much there this week! Other things- Buying baby boy gifts for someone besides Eli, getting some really sweet feedback from a client about how we changed her life, or…Eli kicking me 14 times in less than 2 minutes. We may have a very active kiddo.
What we bought: I went a little crazy without planning on it. I felt like I was doing well financially so the purse strings loosened. I bought mostly boring stuff like postpartum herb bath, new mama spray, witch hazel with aloe vera, quick clean bags for the pump, all that jazz. I also got some more interesting things like the books The Happiest Baby on the Block and That’s my Son. Hopefully they’re good. I finally finished my other baby books. Even Josh read the new daddy chapters and he hates to read. Now, of course, he’s afraid Eli will rush out and he’ll have to help me give birth at home. Crazy guy, we’re pretty close to a hospital I doubt we won’t have 10 minutes to spare haha.

Other things? We got some baskets at Hobby Lobby to hang on the wall for diaper storage like so. They’re not on the wall yet because we’re waiting for the walls to get painted. We also got this “Splish, Splash, I was taking a bath” vinyl for the baby bathroom. That song reminds me of fun summer days boating at the lake with my family and grandparents. Oh, and I couldn’t help but indulge in this fox from Kohl’s for the baby room. I don’t know where I’ll put it, but I’m a bit fox obsessed right now.

Well, tomorrow we have family pictures and I need to go get Kito ready for it. I put off getting him groomed until it was too late now he has old man ears and Grinch feet. I hope you all have a fun, relaxing weekend!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
