C’mon month 7

We’re 7 months along now, and I am in full-on nesting mode. It’s taking everything in me to chill out and not buy all of the nursery stuff for Eli right now. I can’t wait to get it all set up, but I know if I wait it will be so much better. We still have 2 baby showers and my parents are coming the last week of November. Praying for patience! Here’s my belly check in this week.

As for Eli?
Eli’s Size: He should be about 2 and a half pounds, or about the size of an eggplant. I can't wait to see him Tuesday!
Cravings: chocolate, Starbuck’s Pumpkin spice latte’s, Ramen
Side effects: heartburn, Charlie horses, hip pain, moodiness, seeing stars, forgetfulness, insomnia, nightmares
Wedding rings on or off? Still off. I put them on yesterday because we had a photo shoot scheduled, and it was so hard to get them back off.
Most awkward moment? Rescheduling our photo shoot (again) due to rain, and then having the rain stop shortly after. Let’s hope we get these scheduled before Eli is actually here.
Best moment? Hmmm I had a pretty good date night with Josh last night. We went and picked up pumpkins and went out to dinner, but I think the best moment was getting off work Friday! My coworker was out the whole week so we were short-staffed and we’re on track for (another) record setting month. I did get some good news about work as well, but I’ll save that for after the baby is born.
What we bought: With some of our baby shower gift cards we got Eli this super cute lamp and a ‘naked’ Boppy. We’ve also got him all sorts of infant medicines and have been stocking up on diapers as we see them go on sale. He’s collected quite the stuffed animal collection as well, though we haven’t bought him one lately. It’s about time to get Josh to make him a toy box.

He keeps having gifts trickle in and we got the cutest UT pacifiers, shoes, and little outfits this week. He’s going to be styling. Have you seen this boy’s wardrobe? This isn’t even half of it. He’s still got a closet full.

Well, as I said before this week has been hectic. I worked 3 hours overtime this week just trying to make everything work and I still have some leftover, menial, administrative work left to get to Monday. On top of that, we’re supposed to get surveyed this week. No biggie. I was glad to get to the weekend.

So far it’s been pretty fun. I took several naps, lounged, started reading the new Nicholas Sparks book (really good so far! Not his usual format either), and went on a date with Josh. We also did a little cooking. Yesterday I made some pretty good beer cheese soup, which I usually don’t like. Did you know people commonly top it with popcorn? Try it! It was good. Then I baked us some brownies and we went for a little walk around the neighborhood. I tried some new editing techniques on these suckers. I know I can over-do it so hopefully this is getting a little better. Here are some of our pics from our walk, because I know you’re dying to see them. Oh! I threw in our scary pumpkin man too! I told you he makes the porch scary!

Well, I’m off to do some laundry and car washing. Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning Desig

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc
