Gobble Gobble

It’s Thanksgiving week!! Josh is home all week and my brother and his family are days away. It’s like a vacation over here. Well, I guess it technically is a vacation. Did you have a good week? Eli and I had an extra day together this week. We did our usual errands etc. but we also had a Starbucks, watched I Am and GMO OMG , made cinnamon rolls and did a bit of shopping. Those two documentaries are amazing. You should most definitely watch them. Of course those cinnamon rolls were supposed to be for mom’s group and I didn’t finish them until 2 hours after the event, but hey. It is what it is! Ohhh on top of that I had the best girl’s day painting ceramics with my friend Aimee. I made a mug that will of course be featured on one of our Make it Monday’s at Polished Homemade . Speaking of P/H, I got to take a few photos of some of the most adorable babes out there. Meet Emma and Tucker. Try not to pinch their cheeks over the web.          ...

Give Thanks, with a Grateful heart

Well, I got the best news ever. My brother and his entire family are coming down for Thanksgiving! YAY! I foresee a lot of shopping, eating, and quality time in our near future. Maybe ICE at Opryland, the Zoo, and/or the Adventure Science Center. Do y’all have any suggestions for kid-friendly fun? I cannot wait. On top of that, I had brunch with some marvelous ladies today and went shopping. We even discussed starting a women-teach women group. We collectively know how to knit. how to speak French, how to create business plans, etc. I have to figure out what I’ll teach, but I know it will be fun. We  might call it, She's Crafty, but I don't want to limit it to crafts alone. Any name suggestions? Anywho, I had the most amazing Woodhouse coffee at Fido and got a killer Jack coat for our Wyoming trip. It’s pink, of course. How can you go wrong with pink?? I’m not ready to be warm in below zero weather. Oh wait- I’m never ready for that. Still, Eli will get to have a white Chris...

Not so fast

Well, this week wasn’t quite as easy as the week before. Hence, the late post. Yes I’m glad to be home, but things went very awry much of the week. Josh didn’t come home on time any day, and to be honest one of those days while the dinner timer was going off and Eli was screaming for dinner in his high-chair, Kito decided his antibiotic wasn’t agreeing with him and proceeded to vomit…5 times.  I may have cried. Eli was teething on top of that so sleeplessness was in the mix and our schedule got thrown off by doctor appointments and such. I’d much rather have things go as planned, but what can you do? Still- I feel like my compassion and ‘spark’ are coming back slowly.   What we Bought: Little yums teething biscuits and new diaper bag Most Awkward Moment: Eli pushed the shred box over and used it as a step so he can prop himself up and see outside. I was in the room! He was just so fast. Best Moment: Any of his very clingy hugs! He just loves you so much and you know it. U...

All Hallow's Eve

I made it through the first full week being at home full time! Honestly, for me personally in my own circumstances (NOT a blanket statement for other people), it was easy! Sure there were nights when Eli woke up 4 times, but now I got to nap. I slowly took on chores throughout the week as well, so at nights and over the weekend Josh and I got more quality time with each other and with our precious baby boy. I’m really loving it. Plus, I had a few gigs this weekend so that kept me busy and feeling productive. You know I’m insanely type A, so of course we’re following a schedule I created. I like it because it’s got everything I need to do in one place. Plus, if I don’t get to everything- like when Eli takes mini naps- then the chore just rolls over to the weekend which is frankly when we would do everything anyways. Anything that gets done lessens the burden. This week we start smallgroup and are filling out the required documentation to start volunteering. I am most excited to vol...

Newsweek!

This week went by so fast! I love spending time with my parents, they are such go-getters. We ate, then ate, then ate. I mean Jeni’s , ML Rose , Jim N Nicks . Y-U-M. That’s not even including the delicious home cooking my mom brought to the table. Ah- I haven’t had cinnamon rolls or chicken and dumplings for so long. But really- my dad put up a beautiful backsplash in our kitchen that is just phenomenal, mom and I had a spa day, we meandered up to Honeysuckle Hill Farm , had an in-family pumpkin decorating contest, and we topped off the week by going to Franklin’s Pumpkinfest this morning. It was so much fun. I’ve never seen Eli laugh so much. We will miss their company and the love and laughter they bring. Only 8 more weeks until we see them again. That all being said-be ready for a picture overload! I also made the time to take Kito to the vet. They’re not sure what’s going on with him. They did blood work which was “inconclusive”, but many of their tentative diagnoses are relat...

It’s a new morning (and afternoon…and evening)

Well my last official work week came and went. It was a rough week, but the last day itself was pretty anticlimactic. Maybe because I’ll be back Mondays and Wednesdays indefinitely. Apparently thus far there’s been no applicants for the job. Oh well, I’m still so happy to be home with Eli (who, at the moment is chewing his way through our DVDs- the Tracy Anderson Method is his favorite). Well, my parents are in town so this is going to be another short one! I want to soak it up. What we Bought: Not a thing! Best Moment: Last night Eli just wanted to be held. He would give me a huge hug then look around then give me another humongous hug. He’s so sweet Best purchase: Everything babyproof. But really I love that these cabinet locks need a key. They also keep the cabinet completely shut so there’s no baby fingers near household poisons. My mom helped me scout some new places for photo shoots today so Eli got lots of one on one time with his grandma today! Eli: Week 40 I h...

Loosen your Lederhosen

I made it! Two weeks of two staff members out and I made it. Now, I just have one more full week and I’m home free. Eli’s been sleeping a lot better this week, but I still am so exhausted. Mommy needs a nap. What did we do this week? Well, we made it to a wet and rainy Oktoberfest and had a very tasty pretzel-wrapped beer brat from 312 Pizza Co and, as always, the beer cheese soup from Mad Platter was yum-my. Other than that it’s been constant errands. Oh! We did decorate our house for Halloween. I didn’t buy anything new this year, so it’s pretty much the same as usual. What we Bought: This splat mat - trying to save our carpet! Most Awkward Moment: So many. I successfully washed and dried a diaper…without noticing. Hey, at least it was not a #2 deal. Or maybe it was Eli drumming and scratching on my chest all through Kroger. I guess the baby sign language hasn’t quite stuck yet. Or it could be our daycare infant teacher who is likes cosplay who said she’d dress her kid up just ...
