A Little Eclectic Update

Oh my goodness, it has been a long time since I posted. I have actually been crafting, but have just been too something (busy, lazy, exhausted?) to post. I have been working on something major, which I hope to share with everyone next week, but until then this is what you get.  An update on some of my projects. I did finish my Mother’s Day gift for my mom. When all was said and done, this is what the family birthday calendar looked like. Now it has one more dangle, as my little niece was born in April.

Speaking of which, I got a chance to take a few photos of my little niece. Out of the options listed in this post, Lacey (my sister in law) chose a huge purple bow from Loveable Baby Boutique, a gorgeous oversized pink flower headband from Pink Paisley Bowtique, and this sweet mini tutu set from  EmilyzEmbellishments. Okay, maybe I pushed that one on her Winking smileI also snagged some super soft baby wraps from Juicy Berries.  Next time, I’m buying some bigger wraps, but other than that I had a blast. Here’s a few pictures to show you how the props turned out.

Isn’t she just the cutest?
We also finished our beer bottle top-topped table (hey that’s a mouthful). It’s a little shinier now that we’ve covered it with the polyurethane resin, but hey, I’m too lazy to re-do. You get the idea/overall concept. We’re actually really happy with it. It took many months and many friends to get that sucker done, but I do think it adds some much needed, non-citrus color to the landing (aka Josh’s Man Cave).

Other than that I’ve been working on a few crafts for the home, especially the bedroom. I made these state-shaped mementos to indicate special events in our live. For this, we have Josh’s birth year, my birth year, and our the year of our wedding. I backed them with love letters from this old book I had lying around, The 50 Greatest Love Letters of all Time.  I’m generally opposed to shredding up books, but I can’t say I would’ve recommended it. We also snagged this cheap mirror at the local flea market and painted it, and some old frames we had, with matching gold paint. One of the frames was gold to begin with, but I might just repaint it because the slight change in color is killing me. Josh made the green mat out of a foam sheet from Michael’s, which was extremely inexpensive.

Lastly, I turned an antique window into a picture holder by adding a few simple embellishments including burlap, jute string, mini clothes pins, and of course lace string. This is about my favorite thing ever. I scrapbook, but I always print more pictures that I use, so this is a great way for those pictures to get some face time.

I’m still working on the bedroom itself. It’s coming along and I want to say it’s nearly done. We’ve painted and accessorized, but I just can’t find the perfect curtains. We bought some really light, breezy grey ones, but I really don’t want our room to be grey on grey on grey with a hint of green. You know what I mean? Also, I’d actually like to get some sleep and with the amount of light those let through it was not going to happen.
Lastly, here’s my summer wreath! I told you it would be mine!

I hope you all have a fabulous week! Enjoy the weather.

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
