My biggest project to date

Last week I told you that I’ve been working on a huge project. The project? Incubating a baby! I’m so excited to finally announce that Josh and I are expecting baby Belcher on January 9th. We are already 12 weeks pregnant, and I can’t believe it.

The pregnancy itself has been taking a lot of physical energy to tell you the truth, but so far so good. There are days when I wish I could nap at work, but the morning sickness is nearly gone and our little baby is looking so great. We got to see him (or her) today and it was seriously amazing. He was moving his little arms around, kicking his feet, and bucking like a horse (haha!) when he got sick of getting his picture taken. See his little feet?

Pretty much everyone but my friend Jayci and Josh believe our little one is a boy. I started thinking it was a girl, but then I read this and decided the spicy food, distaste for red meat, and the location of our baby means it’s a boy (who knows?). Only 4 more weeks until the doc says he’ll try to get ‘a sneak peek’ of the gender. Here’s hoping the baby is less stubborn than I am!

Our wee one’s nicknames so far?
  • Sirenita (the little mermaid/f)
  • Gummy Bear
  • Skeletor (yea- the Doc came up with that one)
  • Peanut
Being totally type A, I’ve already purchased the traveling system, bassinet, and a few books. My dad also rejuvenated this sweet family heirloom that I know our baby will just love.

We have names picked out already and I’ve come up with some ‘design’ (I use that word loosely) boards for the nursery that I’ll be posting soon. I also plan to take some belly photos soon because this baby is showing, and my family is four states away. I’m so excited! We have been blessed. This verse is so true for us….

“I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him.” 1 Samuel 1:27

Well, I’m off. I hope y’all have a great weekend! Josh is treating me to Cirque Du Soleil Sunday for an early birthday present so I’m sure mine will be wonderful!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
