The Labor-Free Weekend

Hooray for 4 day weekends! I feel so refreshed! Our little family had quite the time. Josh and I headed to Evin’s Mill Friday night after shopping and dropping Eli off at his grandparents. It was amazing. Seriously, it was super cute, the food was de-licious, the hike was gorgeous, and Josh and I had tons of quality time together. I almost forgot how funny he is. For the record I did not believe a racecar driver was, at one point, president (a-hem).

Saturday was filled with more shopping, our first movie in an actual theater since December last year, and the first PSL of the season. We saw If I Stay, and although there was lots of sniffling going on, it was good. Josh even begrudgingly admitted that he liked it.

Today I started working on expanding my portfolio so the people at the silent auction know what they’re getting with their bid. My friend volunteered her sister and her family, which was perfect on so many levels. Their family is a-d-o-r-e-a-b-l-e, and it allowed me to try something new, with a range of ages, in a situation where the subjects were semi-strangers. Let me tell you, toddlers are harder than I thought! Davide was so cute, but he was more interested in running around than looking into the camera, which I can totally understand. I had a lot of cute pictures but these are some of my favorites that aren’t on facebook.

There’s so many more that I love! I've got one more little girl on the line-up and then I think I'm ready. Now for this week’s check in…

What we bought: So many clothes. So many. Usually I shop and I come home with bags and bags for myself, now I come home with more bags for him than anything. We bought him a Janie & Jack sweater, a long sleeve GAP shirt and pants, Gymboree shorts and tee, and a Carter’s warm long-sleeve footie cover up for when we go to Wyoming for Christmas.
Useless purchases: Fake baby keys. The daycare staff said he liked them, but not so much (not even when they are cold). Hey, at least he’ll eat strawberry bit oatmeal now.
Best moment: Coming back home to our baby! I missed him so much.
How my life has changed: My hips still randomly hurt. I finally started having milk again with apparently no problems to Eli’s little tummy.

Eli: Week 32

This week I tried to roll onto my belly while dad was changing me. It was hilarious and I proved it by giggling the whole time. I had my first full sleep over with my Mimi and Sabba. We had so much fun (except when they tried to take me for a car ride, blah). I got myself a piece of sugar snap pea and it was so delicious! I was MAD when dad took it away after I managed to pop out a pea with my teeth. My parents are too protective. All I get to eat is mashed food and puffers. Well, and Cheerios- but I don't like those so that doesn't count. My favorite books right now are Dr. Seuss's ABC book and my baby Bible.

Have a great week! Hey, at least it’s short.

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
