This week in baby news…

Good morning! Well, now afternoon. This post comes to you while Optimus is lying on my lap. I think he knows his lap time is limited.

Baby Belcher is now 24 weeks and 3 days along.  We had our checkup this past Tuesday and everything is still looking good! It was our first appointment where we weren’t able to see him, so that was a little sad, but next time we should get a peek. I have to do my glucose test and I am NOT excited about it. At least it will be over quickly.

Here’s me representing the Broncos! I know they aren’t playing today, but I have to work tomorrow and this does not meet business casual standards. I’m trying to convince Eli in utero to be a Broncos fan. We’ll see if they win him over, as you know he’ll get plenty of push from his daddy to be a Titan’s fan.

Eli is now officially “viable” so that takes some stress off. I’ve been having some anxiety that I’ll hurt him somehow because I cannot stop sleeping on my back. I fall asleep on my side, but almost always wake up on my back. I don’t know how you change that. Even when using the Snoogle I somehow flip over to my back. Everyday I feel him move, so he’s still getting enough of what he needs at least. Other updates….

Weight gain: 15.5lb goodness gracious! I’m catching up quickly
Eli’s Size: He should be about 1 1/3 pounds and about the size of an ear of corn right now.
Cravings: Buffalo chicken with blue cheese dip, Funyons, Starbuck’s Pumpkin spice latte’s
Side effects: nausea for 3 days this week (perhaps a slight bug?), heartburn, foot cramps/Charlie horses, round-belly pain, hip pain. Hey at least the sciatic pain is gone this week! And… I’m still sleeping pretty well.
Wedding rings on or off? On, most of the time, I take them off at night sometimes because of some minor swelling.
Most awkward moment? A client rubbing my belly for a good minute-with both hands- *shudder*. She is so sweet I didn’t want to hurt her feelings, so I just stepped back.
Best moment? Either confirming tickets for our family vacation in Branson or getting Eli’s (and mine) Halloween costume in. I can’t wait to share it with you…in a month. Oh! Or- getting our invite to our 2nd baby shower in the mail. They were so cute!
What we bought: We got in some milk storage bags (boring), his bumbo, and his little play mat. For me? I got these cheetah print Sperry’s. Hey, they’re for him too right? Mom’s got to be comfortable.

Here’s months 3, 4, 5, and 6!

This week was extremely busy. At work we have pretty much quadrupled our clientele in the past 3 months and are now expecting to expand to 5x our original size as of this coming Monday. So- that meant we had to break up our groups, familiarize ourselves with new curriculum, etc. all the while doing our ‘regular’ job. This is a good problem to have, but it’s been a little stressful. To cope with the stress, Josh and I planned a date last night, but we ended up cancelling due to Josh feeling ill. So we planned a second date today…which did not work out because it was closed! I need to relax.

On the plus side, I did get a little girl time with my friend Aimee yesterday. We went to brunch at Panera before heading to Fired Up to paint some coffee mugs. One of the mugs I thought ended up cute, one of them ended up….yeah… Anyways, I should get them back next week sometime. I decided to get my co-workers some coffee mugs and fill them with homemade vanilla latte soap for Christmas. Yes, it’s September. I just love gift giving! They all have birthdays coming in October, so I’ll show you those little gifts when the time comes.

Well, I’m off to nap. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
