I don't need no help

This week's title is brought to you by my Eli...

I don't actually need help, but I'm very blessed to have help with these two. Especially when we're one parent down at home. I'm so thankful for friends and my mother-in-law this week.

Week 38
I started standing and cruising! I also had my first swing ride. I throw a tantrum if you don't let me feed myself and macaroni and cheese makes me gag. I chase brother while he's motorcycling around the house.

Week 39
I dance every time Moana's 'You're Welcome' comes on. I pat brother on the back and climb up slides. I help with chores by unfolding laundry and chasing the broom. I finally said Dada and Mama in the appropriate context. When dad got home I exclaimed,"dada!" and when mom turned the corner, I was looking for her and yelled "mama!". I got another tooth! My third one. I turned 9 months old today!

Eli

Whenever I choke on water or food, I tell mom, "I'm ok, it went down my back tube." I like to sing,
"Sugar pie honey buns, I don't need no help!" and I accuse mom of "being super rude to me" when she doesn't let me do whatever I want. I noticed mom has holes in her ears which alarmed me very much, but I was more intrigued by her "sparkles" on her skin (freckles). Mom asked if I like freckles, to which I replied, "no, they're itchy." After watching Pinocchio one time I'll randomly tell mom, "you have a REAL boy!"

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
