Where the deer and the antelope play

Ok- I'm ready to stay home and be a couch potato now. We just got back from Wyoming and it was marvelous. Josh and I had a date and I filled up on the best chili rellenos around (not authentic at all, and it's delicious), we took Eli to the Wyoming Dinosaur Center and he has been inseparable from Deano his Dinosaur ever since (named by Papa), and we spent a whole day up at the mountain where Eli fished and rode four wheelers. It was great seeing so much of our family and Eli has been asking to go to Grandma's house since we've been back.

Since moving out, going to Denver, moving in, and going to Wyoming I'm beat. We have another full week and are pretty much on the go until July 5th. The good news is this pregnancy is flying by and Eli has been (mostly) happy as a clam.

Anias: Week 26

Baby’s size: Butternut squash
Symptoms: stretch marks, swelling, sciatic nerve pain, popping hips, numb feet
Cravings: hot dogs, cheddar pizza- and I finally got to eat sarma!
Milestone: I had to take my wedding rings off and we can now see him move from across the room (well, other people can, I'm always with him obviously)
Other things: Raegan gave me a nice pat to tell me goodbye and Madison gave me a snug hug. Madison got to feel me kick too! Grandma and Papa booked their plane tickets to come see me.

Just for fun- here's me with Eli at 26 weeks

Anias: Week 28

Baby’s size: Coconut
Symptoms: hot flashes at night
Weight gain: 33 lbs
Cravings: Chik Fil A original chicken sandwich with extra pickles
Milestone: My belly button is now an outie
At the doctor: He weighed 2.5 lbs and had a "strong" heart beat
Other things I’ve noticed: Anias kicks the most when I sing to Eli before naps or bedtime. He still freezes up most of the time when Josh tries to feel him kick, but he’s super active at about 11pm every night. I am ready to nest and dying to get his room ready.

Eli

I came up with a new game called "train's coming!" where I tell mom a train is coming and she pretends to be a choo choo that chases and tickles me. I also made up a game where I hide in mom and dad's closet and pop out wearing something new every time. I'll go in, and come out wearing a hat. Then, I'll go in and come out wearing dad's shoes. Mom laughs every time. I love to swim and dance and I say new words like awesome, fragile, and off limits. I ask to see dinosaurs often and Deano sleeps with me always. I still somersault when happy and I love riding "lawn mowers" (4 wheelers). I saw a horse and a deer in real life and was confused! I was convinced the deer was a horse. I like to call mom Shantel and I love to fish and throw the fish back to the water. I bit through my last binkie and now suck my thumb. I like to ask "what's that?" and loud noises scare me. I looked at myself in the mirror wearing a button up shirt and said "I'm handsome!". I like to crawl over the couch and go "ouch! My ankle". I started potty training and had two whole days in a row with no accidents!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

First of all….Can you name the seven dwarfs? Just try it. Kills me every time.Okay moving on. Of course today’s party I’m working on a Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs themed party. I think I would start by setting up a little “forest” for the kids to walk through on the way in- complete with either stuffed or cardboard cut-out animal bunnies, chipmunks and deer. Little birds (most likely paper) would be hanging from the door frame. I’d be going for this kind of feeling (but with the princess not so sad let’s hope!) I would love to have a dress up station with a nod to “Mirror Mirror on the Wall”. Maybe something like this but more down to earth like this . Of course there would need to be apples galore. Candied apples? Carmel apples with a carmel apple decorating station? Rice crispy treat apples ? Donut hole mini apples ? Oh the options. (I also looove the Snow White cut-out in the mirror- adorable). Some sort of poison potion (with dry ice) would be super cute too. Maybe...

Dog Days of Summer

Well, my acrylic stamps didn't happen to work out on the cookies, but I found a purpose for them. I was practicing dipping Oreos in white chocolate when I got the bright idea to stamp them. I tried a few different methods, but my husband had the winning idea. Take a look. My methods- leaving the stamps in the white chocolate while it dried, using a greased stamp (gross, don’t do it), and using a stamp on nearly hardened white chocolate The winning method (eh hem- Josh’s method), putting the stamp in the white chocolate then freezing the cookie That man is a genius! I think they turned out super cute. I can’t wait to use this for a party. I’m kind of a sucker for my dogs so I was actually thinking about hosting a dog’s day out. If not, then I’ll probably keep this in my back pocket for Optimus’ birthday. Like I said- I’m a sucker for my dogs.

The Daniel Fast

When Josh and I moved back to Bellevue this summer we joined a new church, Zeal, which we really love. We've felt more challenged there to really engage, and twice a year the church as a whole focuses on 21 Days of Prayer. In January we fast during the 21 days, andre encouraged to give up something we feel hinders our focus (Instagram, sweets, etc.) We chose to do the Daniel Fast. The Daniel Fast is based on the following verses... “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink." Daniel 1:12   In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks" Daniel 10: 2-3 So basically, we've been eating a vegan, gluten-free, no sugar or sweetener-added foods for the past 11 days. We don't have fried foods either as they're 'rich', but we do have whole grains. We drink 100% juice and wat...
