Happiness is the truth

This will be short and sweet. We’re getting ready to go on Eli’s first real vacation! I’m so excited, but also very busy getting 3 people packed up. Who knew babies needed so much? I mean, I guess I packed both he and I in one suitcase for our 4 day trip, but now he needs his stroller and pack n play, etc. I can’t wait for him to enjoy the splash park and meet all of his cousins. Wish us luck on this 8 hour drive! Goodness. It will be so worth it though.

What we bought: A little pool floater for Eli. More saline for his nose.
Invaluable purchases: haha I’d have to say the baby bath with the sling (see below). Also our glider. I use it for those middle of the night feedings. It puts Eli right to sleep.
How my life has changed: We watch television on almost mute now. Don’t wake the baby is a definite rule here! Eli is grouchy if he doesn’t sleep.

Week 20

This week I figured out that if I lift up my feet I’ll spin around in my jumper. Sometimes I cry until mom and dad put me in it, it’s so much fun. I had my first bath without the newborn sling. It was very frightening! I held onto the sides of the baby bath and cried until it was over. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again anytime soon. I like when people kiss my feet, and I’ll hold them out one at a time for a kiss, which makes me giggle. I love to talk all day long and I like to play with my little lion which hangs from my car seat.

Have a great week everyone!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
