Shake it like a Polaroid Picture

Well it’s Sunday again, which means I’m about to bombard you with pictures. This weekend we got a chance to take a cheese, wine, and jazz class at Standing Stone Farm and I’ve got to say, it was really fun. I had no idea you could whip up two cheeses and some homemade butter in under 3 hours. I’ve been planning to have a few people over for a wine, beer, cheese, fruit, and chocolate pairing party sometime next month so you can bet we’ll be making fresh cheese and butter for that. In the meantime, I’ll have to come up with a shorter name.

Other than that our weekend has been pretty chore-oriented. We did work in our weekly walk. Nature is looking a little less dead, but I can’t wait for spring. Here’s some pictures for your viewing pleasure (Josh even got in on the action).

After that I worked on expanding my light & Lightroom skills. Optimus was a pretty good sport.

Mmmm we also made de-licious pretzel bread with cheese sauce. I’ve made a few pretzel recipes in my time, but these are by far my favorite. LOVE them. The cheese sauce we just kind of came up with on our own. I was impressed! It was creamy and spicy and very pretzel worthy.

Here’s the recipe for the cheese sauce….

6 oz Cracker Barrel Chipotle white cheddar cheese
3 oz cream cheese
1 tsp prepared mustard
2 tbl milk

Melt and top with a few green onions if you wish. Whala- pretzel worthy cheese sauce.

Ohhhh I also talked Josh into watching Downton Abby! SO good. We’re done with season one already. Seriously I’m about to renew my Hulu plus subscription to watch season two.

Our first small group experience went pretty well I thought. I enjoyed all the people and didn’t feel like I was completely out of place and/or overwhelmed by a slew of strangers. Here’s to new experiences.

We haven’t yet gotten a chance to run up to Franklin to get our glassblown paperweights, but I’ll be sure to put up some pictures next week when we do. I think they turned out fairly well but when you take them out of the oven (eh hem, not the proper term but whatever) they all look red-orange. We’ll see!

I better get to bed since I’m 85 on the inside. Hope you have a good weekend!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
