Seasons in the sun

We said goodbye to our poor dog today. I thought I would be completely fine, I mean there's only so much eh hem, crap, one pregnant woman can clean up. Regardless, I still cried when his nice new owner offered to let us come by anytime. I'm so scared Eli is going to be devastated. That dog was his best friend, but as my friend pointed out, he'll have a new best friend, a little brother, in a few short months. Optimus didn't seem to be bothered at all. He hopped in the car without any prodding and was like "bye suckers!"
We're moving out of our house on Monday and Eli and I are off to Denver until the 16th when we will close on our townhouse. He's super excited to see his cousins, Tenley in particular. I told him we were going to say goodbye to Optimus, get on a plane to Denver to see his cousins, then maybe go swimming to which he replied "that sounds fun." Wish us luck! Once we get settled I will feel relieved.

Week 22

Baby's size: ear of corn
Symptoms: weird sensation of my mouth tasting hugely bitter or tasting like soap at random times, waking up with numb feet, seeing stars
Cravings: Pretzels from Flying Saucer- even though they make me sick; I have had dreams about chips and pickles several times, which is odd
Milestone: Forgot to mention that daddy felt baby move at 19 weeks

<--pouting because mom wouldn't give me my binkie

Eli
I say baby's name so loudly and with gusto, it's never just Anias it's "ANIAS!!!!" I'm very sweet, and when mom got a new shirt I told her she looked cute and baby looked cute. She thought it was so funny I said it over and over. I love to walk Optimus and run as fast as I can. I pretend that my fish bath toys talk to each other and use different voices for each one. Usually they just say hello, okay, and bye bye to each other. I pretend to be on the phone with a one Mr. Chicken Nugget almost daily and I find myself wondering months later where Santa went.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

First of all….Can you name the seven dwarfs? Just try it. Kills me every time.Okay moving on. Of course today’s party I’m working on a Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs themed party. I think I would start by setting up a little “forest” for the kids to walk through on the way in- complete with either stuffed or cardboard cut-out animal bunnies, chipmunks and deer. Little birds (most likely paper) would be hanging from the door frame. I’d be going for this kind of feeling (but with the princess not so sad let’s hope!) I would love to have a dress up station with a nod to “Mirror Mirror on the Wall”. Maybe something like this but more down to earth like this . Of course there would need to be apples galore. Candied apples? Carmel apples with a carmel apple decorating station? Rice crispy treat apples ? Donut hole mini apples ? Oh the options. (I also looove the Snow White cut-out in the mirror- adorable). Some sort of poison potion (with dry ice) would be super cute too. Maybe...

Dog Days of Summer

Well, my acrylic stamps didn't happen to work out on the cookies, but I found a purpose for them. I was practicing dipping Oreos in white chocolate when I got the bright idea to stamp them. I tried a few different methods, but my husband had the winning idea. Take a look. My methods- leaving the stamps in the white chocolate while it dried, using a greased stamp (gross, don’t do it), and using a stamp on nearly hardened white chocolate The winning method (eh hem- Josh’s method), putting the stamp in the white chocolate then freezing the cookie That man is a genius! I think they turned out super cute. I can’t wait to use this for a party. I’m kind of a sucker for my dogs so I was actually thinking about hosting a dog’s day out. If not, then I’ll probably keep this in my back pocket for Optimus’ birthday. Like I said- I’m a sucker for my dogs.

Tuesday Tips

This week’s focus is…         MENU Oh how I love food. After you’ve come up with your theme and your décor, it seems (at least to me) for the menu to come along naturally. I do have a few rules I try stick to. When I throw a party I generally like to have something crunchy you can snack on, something healthy(ish), something you could consider to be what I call “real food” aka something you would eat as part of a main meal, at least 2 drink options, and something deliciously sweet. Although I try to have some of the food options be theme-specific, I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary. People might remember if your food was theme specific, but they’re definitely going to remember if your food was delicious. Don’t feel like you can’t make some of your favorite staples for a party! Make food you would like to eat- especially if you’re hosting. You might just have leftovers. If you’re staple food is steak, or something equally expensive or equally larg...
