A Perfect 10

Our baby is 10 months old! I can't hardly believe it, so much so I literally tell myself that about 12 times a day. It most definitely hasn't been perfect, but I wouldn't change it for anything!

We had a rough week. Eli and Anias both got the stomach flu so I spent 2 days straight cleaning and caring for my babies. We also found out that it's going to be insanely expensive to build the plans we bought on our land. Our builder kept saying he wasn't sure if the house was going to fit, but I couldn't understand that because we have 1.3 acres and on the map it looked fine. What he meant was the land wasn't nearly flat enough. The building envelope that was detailed when we were under contract was actually too close to the road because there are electric lines over the property. After pushing it back to meet regulations we had a lot less moderately sloping land to work with. We were off by 45' in depth. To excavate that for 70 feet (length), well that would be 1/3 of our budget. So basically, we couldn't get a quote and therefore a builder until we bought plans, but the plans we bought didn't work.  We're having the architect work with the builder to draw up custom plans for the land now, but it will be 2 more months. On the plus side, we originally wanted custom plans but were quoted 3x's the price we're paying for these and I really like the architect and his firm. This is what it's been like so far...

20 months from signed contract to purchase
̶4̶  5 months from purchase to builder availability

Up next:
2 months from plan design to finalization and (hopefully) break ground

Anias: Week 44 (10 months)

I tear food into pieces like mama does for me, but if it's on my plate it loses it's appeal. I put things into buckets and cars and push them around. I like to throw things into the trash and I crawl quickly up the stairs if anyone leaves the gate open. I play with curtains and I don't let Eli take anything from me.

Eli:

I tell spiders "You're going to jail!" and accuse mom of stealing the heart of Tafiti. I couldn't go to sleep one night because I was so worried my Mother Goose book had melted. In reality, I was looking at the empty book jacket.
