Faith in Humanity

Sometimes my faith in humanity wavers. We went to Denver this past week to enjoy some time with my family while Josh was in Vegas for work. It was so nice to not have to catch another flight and shell out an extra $300 per person to make it to Wyoming, and it was awesome that I have such a kind family that they're willing to drive 6.5 hours to come see our kids, but in the general public sometimes I just don't know what's wrong with people. When we wrangled all our luggage (think 2 car seats, 3 carry ons, 2 huge suitcases and a double stroller with two kids) we made it to the car rental wait station and did our best to keep the (eh hem non napping) kids happy during a 20 minute wait. The tiny bus finally made it and what did people do? Push in front of us rather than wait in line. By the time we got on the bus it was standing room only. Did anyone offer their seat to me and Anias? Nope. They were fine cooing at him, but to actually give up comfort? Nope.

This is so ridiculous! Why on earth would you, as an able-bodied person, sit on your buns while a mother holding a 7 month old was thrust back and forth in front of you. Honestly. The bus slammed its brakes to avoid a crazy driver and I was this close to falling.  I wanted to accuse them. I wanted to tell them if they can't be gracious to our baby not to talk to him (petty, I know). Instead we looked at the bright side. Josh was the first one off the bus and got our car first. The people who cut us off, and yes there were multiple, enough to fill and entire bus even, were still waiting when we drove off. All's well that ends well, but if you see someone with two babies, 5 bags, and a stroller please take 2 minutes to help them out. They will really really appreciate it.

Since I got pregnant with Eli I've noticed how inconsiderate I was. Maybe you don't know what it's like until you're there. It's a good reminder for myself too. I can surely help others more. We all can.

On the plus side. the bus driver helped me with all the luggage. The car rental attendant upgraded us to the last SUV for free. We got to spend 7 full days with people we love and Eli loved his time with his cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents. Life is still good.

Anias: Week 34

I say "hi" to everyone and fake cough when I want your attention. I try to put straws into cups and although I initially liked playing with ice, it made me mad when my hands got cold. I love swimming and looked so cute in my shark suit. I cry when Eli cries.

Anias: Week 35

I turned 8 months old this week and helped mom celebrate her first mother's day as a mom of TWO! I had my first trip to the zoo and saw my first waterfall. I got quite spoiled while in Colorado and fully expect to sleep with mom all the time.

When asked to give hugs and kisses goodbye, I surprised my whole family by giving Raegan a 20 second kiss on the lips. I love to dig in the park and I finally met my goal that will let me go to school! Mom's going to sign me up as soon as we get home. I went to the splash park, but my favorite part of the trip was vacuuming. I told mom I missed my grandma Bees "the one with the farm!". I made up a song that goes "What's wrong with baby??" complete with piano chords. I call water falls water mountains and coke "coconuts".

Dog Days of Summer

Well, my acrylic stamps didn't happen to work out on the cookies, but I found a purpose for them. I was practicing dipping Oreos in white chocolate when I got the bright idea to stamp them. I tried a few different methods, but my husband had the winning idea. Take a look. My methods- leaving the stamps in the white chocolate while it dried, using a greased stamp (gross, don’t do it), and using a stamp on nearly hardened white chocolate The winning method (eh hem- Josh’s method), putting the stamp in the white chocolate then freezing the cookie That man is a genius! I think they turned out super cute. I can’t wait to use this for a party. I’m kind of a sucker for my dogs so I was actually thinking about hosting a dog’s day out. If not, then I’ll probably keep this in my back pocket for Optimus’ birthday. Like I said- I’m a sucker for my dogs.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

First of all….Can you name the seven dwarfs? Just try it. Kills me every time.Okay moving on. Of course today’s party I’m working on a Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs themed party. I think I would start by setting up a little “forest” for the kids to walk through on the way in- complete with either stuffed or cardboard cut-out animal bunnies, chipmunks and deer. Little birds (most likely paper) would be hanging from the door frame. I’d be going for this kind of feeling (but with the princess not so sad let’s hope!) I would love to have a dress up station with a nod to “Mirror Mirror on the Wall”. Maybe something like this but more down to earth like this . Of course there would need to be apples galore. Candied apples? Carmel apples with a carmel apple decorating station? Rice crispy treat apples ? Donut hole mini apples ? Oh the options. (I also looove the Snow White cut-out in the mirror- adorable). Some sort of poison potion (with dry ice) would be super cute too. Maybe...

The Daniel Fast

When Josh and I moved back to Bellevue this summer we joined a new church, Zeal, which we really love. We've felt more challenged there to really engage, and twice a year the church as a whole focuses on 21 Days of Prayer. In January we fast during the 21 days, andre encouraged to give up something we feel hinders our focus (Instagram, sweets, etc.) We chose to do the Daniel Fast. The Daniel Fast is based on the following verses... “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink." Daniel 1:12   In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks" Daniel 10: 2-3 So basically, we've been eating a vegan, gluten-free, no sugar or sweetener-added foods for the past 11 days. We don't have fried foods either as they're 'rich', but we do have whole grains. We drink 100% juice and wat...
