Oh the traffic is horrific

Well, we were supposed to have been in Wyoming for  2 4 days now but the weather has prevented any sort of progress there so here we are. Saturday we got up at 4 am, drove to the airport, waited for tickets for 45 minutes, waited in security for 45 minutes, got on the delayed plane and waited for 30 minutes before they told us to get off because Denver couldn't accept any planes until noon. Then we got off the plane and waited for about an hour to get new tickets for the 19th, got our luggage and drove back home. It was about 7-8 hours of waiting for nothing. THEN on the 18th we got a message that our rescheduled flight had also been cancelled.

There's two types of packers. There's the ones who grab a few pieces of clothing the day of and probably forgot something (mom), and there's those of us who clean the whole house, update the baby books, wash the sheets, update the budget, etc. I'm the latter. So imagine doing that 3xs in one week. Blah. We're still trying though.

I'm pretty sure Eli thinks Christmas is over. We took down our tree around the 16th so we wouldn't come home to pine needles everywhere and we had our family Christmas the 11th so he could enjoy his new toys before we left. I was watching the Santa Claus last night and he was like "can I watch paw patrol?" Ha! He did tell me the other day that he loves Santa though which is hilarious since the last time he saw Santa he hid inside his hooded jacket.

So we're here...in a house with no decorations and Eli is missing out on making snow angels (he improvised and made some on our rug). He's been begging for his Deano the Dinosaur (packed) and asking when we'll get to see Grandma and Papa. I'm hoping we'll get there soon, but if not there's always Chinese food on the corner because, yeah, I'm definitely comfort eating.
My sweet friend came to meet Anias and brought me flowers! And wine! I have the best friends.
Our family tradition of making gingerbread houses. Eli's gingerman looks, a hem, a little inappropriate- but he had more gummies on it that fell off (meaning- he ripped them off and ate them) before I got around to taking a picture. It's been thrown out since we tossed the tree.

Anias: Week 14

I love mirrors and watching my big brother. He doesn't even have to be doing anything, just looking at his face makes me smile, as does watching him run or play with his Code-a-pillar. I demand to be held, and will cry SO LOUDLY if you put me down, but if I'm not hungry I'll perk right up when I'm being held. My Zantac got increased this week since I'm growing so big, and that has helped me feel a lot better. I love to chew on my fingers.

"Take a picture of my hand"

I went to get Eli this morning and found him with about 15 diapers stuffed into his shirt. When I asked what he was doing, he said he was playing football. When packing he got upset that we didn't bring any jeans for Deano the dinosaur. I'm guessing he was worried Deano would be cold.

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
