A Day in the Life

I’ve been wanting to take on this challenge for a while now, so here it is. A full documentation of one day in Eli’s life.

6:40
Wake up, play with the blanket Mimi made me in my crib while talking to myself merrily (and loudly) until mom comes to get me.
6:45
Mom comes to save the day! After a diaper change, I cruise around, play with my pull puppy, and push around my chair while mom picks up. I get quite upset that mom won’t let me play with her camera.

7:00-8:00
Breakfast! I have a bit of apple juice and some beet-strawberry puffs.  When the real food comes out I refuse it, thinking perhaps mom will relent and let me have some of her cow milk drenched cereal. She doesn’t. I finally have most of my pumpkin cranberry mix while sitting on the kitchen floor with dad, but only after he lets me try to put the cap on myself. I pull down most of my fridge magnets cheerily.

8:00-9:00
Play with mom and dad, the puppies, and my toys until I start getting grumpy from tiredness. Have a little snack while mom sings to me and rocks me in the rocker until I…

9:45-11:00
I get dressed for the day in a monochromatic outfit my dad picks out. Get my nails clipped, try to sneak into both the dog cage and the bathroom cabinet, play with the window and Optimus. Practice my happy screams and pull down all the DVDs I can get my hands on.

11:00-12:00
Church.
11:00-11:15
I just had to eat! So we’re a little late for church
11:15-12:00
Church! I love the music portion, but really really want to crawl, so me and mom decide to compromise. She stands and bounces in the back of the church while I play with the sound-dimming rectangles on the walls.
12:00-1:00
Mmmm mmmm! Mom and dad are eating lunch so I sneak a few bites of pizza crust and beg for a soda, which gets denied. Some day! I play with the broom a bit until I’m ready to snack some more and…

NAP!
3:00-5:00
Mom puts me in some jeans so I don't match too much then I'm off to my new friend Tucker’s robot-themed birthday party! I have so much fun. I get to be a robot, play in a ball pit for the first time, try some cake, and walk away with my own robot rings. I get super jealous of Tucker’s quad and try to sneak away with it a bit.

5:00-6:00
Facetime my grandparents, eat dinner and play some more. I have Mac N Cheese (which I smear on my shirt) so I am able to get out of those pesky clothes. Mom throws me around to make me giggle and dad puts me in my new hat. I manage to finally sneak into Optimus’ cage for a moment. Victory is mine!

6:00-6:30
Bath! I put all of the shapes in my whale toy except the triangle. I just can't quite figure it out yet.
6:30-7:00
Time for bed! I get on some jammies, read The Foot Book with mom and a bit about Joseph with dad, then mom sings to me while I snack myself to sleep. It’s a good day! I’ll probably wake up once tonight, then we’ll start it all over tomorrow.

Have a great week!

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

First of all….Can you name the seven dwarfs? Just try it. Kills me every time.Okay moving on. Of course today’s party I’m working on a Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs themed party. I think I would start by setting up a little “forest” for the kids to walk through on the way in- complete with either stuffed or cardboard cut-out animal bunnies, chipmunks and deer. Little birds (most likely paper) would be hanging from the door frame. I’d be going for this kind of feeling (but with the princess not so sad let’s hope!) I would love to have a dress up station with a nod to “Mirror Mirror on the Wall”. Maybe something like this but more down to earth like this . Of course there would need to be apples galore. Candied apples? Carmel apples with a carmel apple decorating station? Rice crispy treat apples ? Donut hole mini apples ? Oh the options. (I also looove the Snow White cut-out in the mirror- adorable). Some sort of poison potion (with dry ice) would be super cute too. Maybe...

The Daniel Fast

When Josh and I moved back to Bellevue this summer we joined a new church, Zeal, which we really love. We've felt more challenged there to really engage, and twice a year the church as a whole focuses on 21 Days of Prayer. In January we fast during the 21 days, andre encouraged to give up something we feel hinders our focus (Instagram, sweets, etc.) We chose to do the Daniel Fast. The Daniel Fast is based on the following verses... “Test your servants for ten days; let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink." Daniel 1:12   In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks" Daniel 10: 2-3 So basically, we've been eating a vegan, gluten-free, no sugar or sweetener-added foods for the past 11 days. We don't have fried foods either as they're 'rich', but we do have whole grains. We drink 100% juice and wat...
