Four Friends and a Dog

Why is it 4 friends- 1 dog? The time had come. For various reasons/illnesses we put Kito down. I miss my little friend, my constant companion for 8 years. Optimus is pouting a little and I’ve been just trying not to think about it. That is a terrible experience- essentially executing your friend unbeknownst to him. This is him the day before he died. In better news- this month I celebrated my 29th birthday. I actually enjoy getting older. I care a lot less about trivial things and care a whole lot more about things that do matter. I like being married and having a child and creating a life together. Josh got me an underwater camera for Hawaii (yes!) and I was completely spoiled with flowers and gifts from my family. My best friend and her beautiful, sweet, happy baby also came to visit. I forgot how much fun I could be! There is something so nice about hanging out with someone you’ve known for almost a decade. There are no fronts. No pretense. We do fun things just because they’r...

Toddlerhood

Just here lately Eli’s been looking so big! I know it will only continue too. It makes me happy to see him grow, but it also makes me miss when he was such a tiny sweet snuggly baby (who didn’t get into the dishwasher and throw a plate on the floor- just for example). He is certainly a handful- from eating a half a tube of chapstick while I drove us to Kroger to using the bench to dive over the couch, he keeps me on my toes. I am so glad that he is such a happy child. He might grow up to be a mountain climber or a stuntman, but he’ll be happy while he does it. At least that’s my hope! Eli: Month 17 I say new words like… Kito, sit, coo choo, and no-nose (which means his nose) I weigh 24 pounds 6oz My favorite food is raspberries and the marshmallows from Lucky Charms My favorite toy is Optimus! He may be a dog, but he’s fun to play with Some other things I do include… answering every question with “no” (mom blames the book ‘Where are Baby’s Easter Eggs’), turning in circles with my...

Sweet 16

So…this is going to be super picture heavy because so much went down this month! My parents came for TWO weeks which was amazing. We went on a weekend trip to Atlanta and Chattanooga and Eli was a doll. He was super off schedule these past couple weeks which has not made bedtime fun, but it was worth it. He loves his grandparents so much. We are super blessed to have had them here. We started out their vacation with me having my wisdom teeth removed and it was not fun! First of all “twilight sedation” doesn’t work on me. I knew everything that was happening during the surgery and then it made me cry. I knew I wasn’t actually sad, but I felt very sad. It also caused trauma to my lingual nerve which made it both painful and difficult to talk for 10 days or so. I now sound pretty normal, but I still have a lot of nerve pain when I talk too much. I was finally able to make it through the night without prescription medication just last night. Seriously I wish I would’ve gotten it done e...
