23 and Me

November felt like a crazy month. I have been so blessed with more photo shoots this year and just recently (like Thursday) bought the beginnings of an indoor studio setup. Eli has had a good month, but the entire family has been sick off and on throughout, so he’s been a little cooped up. I definitely need to sign him up for weekly classes or something to get all that energy out. It’s almost Christmas guys! We just need to hang on for a couple more weeks.

Well, we have one month to go before this project is done! I can’t believe Eli is almost two.
Eli: 23 months

I say new words like… I love you momma, “a-on” (meaning off), tiger, fox, tent, machine, coffee, shoes on, pick up, Santa, Chuggington, tv, Elmo (hangs head in shame- I don’t know if we’re actually watching more television, or if he’s just more cognizant of it. We honestly haven’t watched any Sesame Street since early October)
My favorite food is I can’t say! He’s recently decided he “no like” everything he used to. I can almost always get him to eat a Gerber pouch- but everything from cookies to quesadillas he “no like.”
My favorite toy is any sort of train or truck- and Christmas ornament contraband, of course. I found a mini train ornament from the advent calendar that I enjoy.
Some other things I do include…tucking mom and dad into bed when they look sleepy. I turn off all the lights and shut the door and shush them when they try to talk. I still spend lots of time every day washing the dishes and washing my hands. I love to figure out how things work, and I helped dad fix my toy drill. Dad gave me my very own screwdriver which I used to fix lots of other things in the house, Optimus included. I love looking at my own baby books and point out the baby in every picture. I went to my first movie, The Good Dinosaur, and got my first haircut. I didn’t mind the haircut too much because they let me sit in a fire truck and car and play with a monster truck. I also can “count” to 7.” I love bear hugs and pretending to be cold as well as pretending to drink coffee.
Memorable Moment for Mom was: when, while at the grocery store, I pointed out our ‘friend’ Santa to which Eli replied, “No like Santa.” I guess I should have listened because that mall Santa terrified him into such hysterics they moved us along without even a screaming baby/mom in picture image.

I thought I was fat

As a woman, I've always placed a lot of value into what I weigh and how I look. In the past few years especially I've been doing my best to move away from that, to focus on being healthy and feeling good, but those thoughts creep up for sure. It's my 6 week check in and I've lost 4 more pounds, so basically I still have 18 pounds to go. I started out these 6 weeks by going to the gym and only drinking water, but after week 2 Eli got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got sick for 2 (make that 5...) weeks, then I got sick for 2 weeks, then Anias got an ear infection and would NOT sleep. He wouldn't fall asleep for 2 hours past bedtime and would wake up for hours. He's actually still doing this and he's still sick. Thursday he had a 101 fever so I took him in to the urgent care and his ear infection in his right ear did not go away. They put him on Augmentin and it just destroys his tummy. He actually vomited 3 times Friday on top of it all. I'm not used to thi...

We made it! And still no baby

The first 35 weeks I prayed Anias would stay put. I may have prayed a little too hard! Yesterday was Anias' due date. At this point Eli had already made his appearance. Anias is his own little man. We had a couple of days this past week where I was sure he was on his way, one in particular when I was having contractions every 10-15 minutes after steadily building all day. Alas, it didn't happen. I've been praying that he comes before our scheduled induction Sunday, but trusting in whatever happens. Our doula was discouraging induction since I haven't had any progress and it is typically harder on your body to be induced. However, I need my parents' help and they leave the 27th. I really want to take advantage of help while I transition from being mom of one to mom of two. I had a rough time emotionally when Eli came, and I know that's natural, but I still want to use my support system as much as possible and I'm so thankful they are here to help. Our doc...

Fit for a Princess

I know this is kind of bad, but I’m ready for summer to be over. I know, I know. I’m working on being content in the present, but I honestly can’t wait to see my family again (rocking some boots and sweaters wouldn’t be so bad either). I’m off to Denver in September and I’ll be in my hometown in Wyoming for Thanksgiving. I only get to see the family every 3 or 4 months so every time it’s like a special treat. They’re so fun! Speaking of which…I was talking to my sister Tiffany about throwing a birthday party for her daughter (my niece), Kali, while I’m home since Kali’s a November baby. Tiff was down for it, but she also wanted some help in re-decorating Kali’s room  and I can’t be any more excited. The idea for the very whimsical reno is to have a tree with some tangible flowers and branches. A dress-up station is also a must. Here’s some inspiration I’ve come across so far… Top to bottom, left to right: Lumme Designs Bed , Fairy Tale Bedroom found at Lyring , Linde Browning D...
