Futurama

Y’all, I think Kito is dying. He’s been coughing up a storm and wheezing! I mean, we all know he’s an obese little dog so he’s been wheezing for a long time but lately it’s not just after running or getting excited. Being alive seems to tax him, but I can’t do it! I don’t want to put him down. Pray that he’s just got seasonal allergies. But seriously- pray that he gets better. I don’t want my pup to go.

On an unrelated note- I’m trying to assess my strengths. You may have noticed an obnoxious yellow poll at the top of the page. Well, the good news is the last time I was thinking about leaving my job the only thing on my list of things I like to do was “empty the dryer lint”. The not so good news is I’m not sure exactly what to pursue or strengthen. In a perfect world I would like to work for myself and make at least 6k per year after taxes. Is that too much to ask? I like all of the options, but there are pros and cons too. A ‘pro’ for all is I really enjoy the field.

Crafting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)  Obviously I really like this, as I have 8 examples after narrowing it down Lack of focus. I just want to do everything! Nothing is very polished. I’d have to sell quite a bit to make any real profit

Party/Wedding Planning (1, 2, 3) Can mostly be done remotely. Let’s me be creative and think outside of the box Lots of competition with large budgets and props to pull from. Id’ probably have to start by working for someone

I enjoy all the challenges that come with this. Getting the kid to look at you, telling a story, working the lighting, learning and learning and learning I’m not *there* yet. The market is saturated and I still have so much to learn. It can be uncomfortable meeting clients and networking as an introvert. After expenses my profit would be rather low

Refurnishing furniture (1, 2, 3, 4) Alone time! I love seeing trash become treasure. Selling one piece will probably be the equivalent of selling 6 wreaths Overhead. Where am I going to keep all this furniture while I wait for it to (if ever) sell? Even used furniture is an expense. Smaller market too- the cost to ship something is outrageous

So, if you feel compelled please vote. Other people often have great insight. I also have another project I’m pursuing, but I’ll keep that in my back pocket until it’s beginning to materialize.

Speaking of which, I finally finished our fall wreath. I can’t decide if I like 4 flowers or 3 better. Hey, we’re representing!

What we bought: A little Halloween outfit, his costume, and a new Vols shirt
How my life has changed: I’m so scared Eli will start crawling when I’m at work! I went to pick him up Friday and they said he was rocking back and forth on all fours and had started moving his arms (he hasn’t quite gotten that his legs need to move too). Noooooo! I want to be there.

Eli: Week 35- 8 months old!

I’m officially 8 months old! My favorite toys are my squid bath toy, my Memphis Zoo tiger, and my parents-they are the best jungle gym. I think it’s hilarious when Kito rolls around and I like to grab Optimus’s ears when he kisses me. I hate to sleep and will fight it every chance I get. Now the car seems to put me to sleep, but I get real mad if I wake up and I’m still in a car seat. I’m already a Vols fan. I’ll watch the screen intently if it’s on t.v. I like to play with danger, so mom has all these rules like “don’t pull on the electrical socket covers”, “don’t pull on wires”, and “don’t eat paper.” She’s so overprotective. I love when mom wears her hair in a braid. I like to whip it around like a rope and then try to eat it. My eyes are now daddy’s color, but I still have mommy’s hair. I went to the doctor for an ear infection last week, and I weighed 19 lbs 14 oz. I’m getting so big!

Have a fantastic weekend!

The Velveteen Rabbit

We’re at week 32! Only 8 more weeks to go. Yesterday we had our final baby shower and it was just adorable. My in-laws threw us a Velveteen Rabbit themed shower. Take a look at these pictures my sister-in-law took of all the sweet decorations. Isn’t it just adorable? I was so sad to tear down the diaper cake, but that wreath is going to go on his nursery door I’m sure. Eli is so lucky to have a crafty grandmother. Not only did she decorate the shower, but she also made him a ton of personalized burp cloths, onesies, pants, blankets, and bibs. Aren’t they soooo cute? I’m thinking about changing his going home outfit to be his little lion onesie she made him with his name embroidered on it. We’ll have to see! Oh and that bear backpack! Isn’t it precious? I can’t wait to pack it up for him to go out to his Mimi’s. He’ll just love it.                     Now for his week 32 check in… Weight Gain:   29 lbs in 32 weeks. Crazy! I did gain 5 of those lbs wh

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

I’m so depressed! The Halloween party we were planning was cancelled (yea-that means we cancelled it). I LOVE love love Halloween, but I’m okay with a low-key night since many of our friends are going to be out of town the weekend we had planned to throw the party. Last year Josh and I spent time handing out candy to neighbor kids and watching the shining. Of course I decorated like crazy, but this year I think I’ll probably keep the decorating outdoors and use the food to celebrate the occasion. Here’s what I had planned food-wise for the Halloween Party. For (eh-hem, real food) snacks.         Trick or Treat Turnovers                                                       Pizza Mummies For crunching and munching on                   Scarecrow Crunch For dessert       Candy Corn Rice Krispies                        Monster Mash Pudding                  Pretzel and Brownie Skeletons I’ll probably let Josh pick out what I make for the occasion since all of it looks SO good

Ready Set, Have You Met...

In the event you don't know, the end of that lyric is "Robocar Poli" which has been playing often in this house lately. Anias and Eli both love it, and with the spiders, ticks, rain, and overall grouchiness of a sleep deprived almost 2 year old I'm just going to roll with it. Josh and I have been busy trying to fix up the house, but unlike those before and after seemingly instant photos it's taking over a month to just finish what we've already started, but we're getting closer! We're taking a long weekend together without the kids this week up in Chicago and I'm excited! It will be nice to explore a new place and see one of my favorite all-time bands: Beach House. Anias: 23 Months I say new words like ...Poli (requesting the show Robocar Poli), mowing, kick it, mint, bike, night night, eat it, cereal, battery, sheep, chick, here you go Mama My favorite food is ...macaroni, but I also like hamburgers and won't hardly have a m
