If at first you don’t succeed

Ah, as I write this my baby boy is napping in his swing. We made it less than 5 minutes in his crib, but we keep on trying. He’s about too big for his bassinet now, so time is of the essence. I don’t know what’s worse? Having an extremely tired (eh hem- grumpy) baby that won’t sleep in his crib or having a well-rested baby who only sleeps when he’s right next to you or being rocked in his swing. I seriously tried to put him in his crib about 5 times yesterday and it always ended with Eli crying intensely and me rocking him back to sleep. Needless to say each time it took longer and longer for him to get back to sleep. Official sleep time? 11:30pm- Midnight (not in his crib, mind you). To put that in perspective- he usually goes to bed between 8:30-9. It would be nice to have him in his room before I go back to work. Speaking of which, I heard back from the time away from work center and my leave has been approved. Make that one less stress. After calling around and finding out that t

A day late and a dollar short

The title may as well be literal. I usually take a few days to write my blog, since interruptions are quite common with a newborn baby, but this week I haven’t gotten around to it until today. I did finish up some crafts and managed to create some programs for my sister’s student recital (she teaches violin), but time just slipped away from me. Next up- the baby bathroom. Here’s what I worked on this week… Mark-ups for Tiffany’s recital Here's her pick & the finished product My other projects this week. A decoupage of the NY Times Newspaper from the day Eli was born. I used a projector to put the quote on it. Not my finest work, but Eli will know I made it, as it’s crooked. Hey, the canvas kept moving. Also the LOVE project got finished. Eli was not letting me open up his hand so all I got were his footprints and paint splatter all over him and myself. Someone got a bath afterwards. As for the dollar short? I may or may not still be employed. I feel so foolish! My do

Cupid’s arrow has struck

Happy Valentine’s Day! Josh and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s until the 15th, since I hate crowds and really any day could be Valentine’s Day, but tomorrow we’re planning on going to see Winter’s Tale (yay for girlie movies) and we may even grab some food while the in-laws spend time with our baby boy. I stopped by work yesterday to show Eli off and brought some Valentine’s Chex mix for my coworkers as well. I did get Josh a present to open when he gets home tonight, but today I wanted to share details of another gift I got him. Remember when I mentioned that I made Josh a new daddy gift? While it did play on the word ‘Pop’ it also had a deck of playing cards I personalized for him. I loved the idea of listing 52 reasons why I love him, and while I’ve seen some playing cards done up on Pinterest, most didn’t look very ‘finished’. So I used Word and Paint to come up with 52 captioned pictures of things I love about Josh before I plugged them into Printer’s Studio , who printed out the

The best month of my life

Well, today marks four weeks since our little boy’s arrival and almost one week since we’ve had any help. We had to call in reinforcements today after I came down with a nasty infection. Thank God we have family here. Josh’s mother came to save the day. I think Eli enjoyed some aspects me being ill. He got to sleep in the swing all night last night and got lots of extra daddy and Mimi snuggles. Honestly parenting without help got a lot harder before it got better, but we’re starting to get into the swing of things…I think. Wednesday I was ambitious. I got myself showered without Josh being home, I gave Eli a bath by myself, and we did some chores with him in the sling that I’ve been afraid to use. I even ate 3 square meals and took a few pictures with my new (amazing) camera. I’m still getting the hang of the new camera, but it’s seriously awesome. But- Thursday was a whole other story. Eli wouldn’t let me put him down all day. We made it an hour total with him being asleep and not i
